Gene A. Cook, 93, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Friday, August 8, 2014 at Barnesville Health Care Center. She was born September 9, 1920 in Quaker City, Ohio, daughter of the late William Johnson and Sarah Gallagher Johnson. She was a member of Barnesville First United Methodist Church and Women's Society. She was a retired case worker from the Department of Public Welfare in St. Clairsville, a volunteer at Barnesville Hospital, and a 60 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Barnesville #206. Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter C. Cook; son, Daniel L. Cook; an infant daughter; and sisters, Hallie Bennett and Pearl Johnson. Gene is survived by, Elizabeth (Tim) McKelvey of Barnesville, Ohio; Susan (Steve) Stewart of Pinson, Alabama; Debra (Tim) Carl of Eagle, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. In honoring Gene's wishes, there will be no visitation. A private service and interment will be at the convenience of her family.
