George A. Burwell, 79, of Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at his home. He was born Nov. 12, 1933 in Tiltonsville, OH a son of the late T. George and Amelia M. (Sadowski) Burwell. He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and a member of Rockhill United Presbyterian Church, Bellaire, OH. George was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Ann (Freeman) Burwell. Surviving are two sons; Thomas J. (Theresa) Burwell of Glenshaw, PA, and Gregory A. (Lori) Burwell of Martins Ferry, a daughter Leigh (Arthur) Scherich of Wellsburg, WV, a brother Mark (Tammy) Burwell of Tiltonsville and eight grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Stan Fedyszyn officiating. Burial follows in Davis Cemetery, Bellaire, OH. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
