Hoover, Sr.
November 4, 1946 – January 7, 2024
George Roger Hoover, Sr. 77, of Beallsville, Ohio passed away in the home that he loved on Sunday, January 7, 2024. A son of the late Richard and Margaret Hudson Hoover, George was born November 4,1946 in Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio.
He retired from Marquart, Inc. where he had worked for years as both a union carpenter and also as a Supervisor. George was an active member of the Beallsville First Christian Church having served the congregation over the years in many capacities. He was also a member of Sunsbury Lodge #362, F & A M for over 50 years, the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, the Beallsville Volunteer Fire Department, the Beallsville Cemetery Board, and the Ohio River Valley Antique Tractor Club. He also served as a 4-H advisor for the "Beallsville Busy Beavers." George's life of service was exhibited not only in his service to his community but also as he served the county as a Sunsbury Township Trustee for over 44 years and with his involvement as a Monroe County Democratic Committeeman and past President of the Monroe County Trustee's Association. George enjoyed farming and fishing, and watching the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. But his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren as they participated in any and all of their activities from sporting events to plays and musicals.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Pam Huntsman Hoover; children, Jennifer (Kenny) Darby, George, Jr. (Katie) Hoover, and Kelly (Rick) Meade; grandchildren, Austin (Chelsea), Makenze (Harley), George III, Kearston, Zack (Erin), Alex, and Marshall; great-grandchildren, Madison, Melanie, Charlotte, and CeCe; brothers, Merwin (Kim) Hoover and Gordon (Cinda) Hoover; his dogs, Zeke and Molly; also nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11 from 4pm to 7pm at the Wilson Funeral Home - Harper Chapel, Beallsville, where funeral services will be held Friday, January 12 at 11am with Wayne Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted at 6:45 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
In keeping with George's giving spirit, his family requests that in lieu of flowers and keepsakes, contributions be made to Beallsville Rally for Life, ℅ Kathy Rees, 46270 SR 556, Beallsville, Ohio 43716.
