George F. Wharton, Jr., 58, of Maple Ave., Tiltonsville, OH, died Thurs., Sept. 1, 2005 at home. He was born Oct. 3, 1946 in Martins Ferry, OH a son of Irene (Papp) Wharton and the late George F. Wharton, Sr. He was the Superintendent of Sierra Circuits, Sunnyvale, CA and a member of the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, California Pistol Club and a life member of the National Rifle Association. George also attended the U.S. Naval Academy and was in the U. S. Navy Reserve for four years. Surviving are his mother of Tiltonsville, two brothers Gary L Wharton and his wife Judy of Rayland and Ron A. Wharton of Bowling Green, KY., two nephews Gary L. (Terri) Wharton, Jr. and James A. (Debra) Wharton all of Rayland, two great nephews and three great nieces. Friends will be received Mon 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Tues, Sept. 6, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Burial follows in Short Creek Cemetery, Short Creek, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
