Gerald F. "Jerry" Coss, 68, of S. Eighth St., Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Mar. 9, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Aug. 4, 1938 in Bridgeport, OH the son of the late Harmon Coss. He retired from the Martins Ferry City Waterworks and was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church of Martins Ferry. Jerry was past Grand Knight and 4th degree member of the Mother of God Council #1421 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister Josephine A. Myers. Surviving are his mother Marie (Strauss) Coss of Martins Ferry, his wife Billie (Schafer) Coss, two sisters Mary E. Staley and Patricia Cika both of Martins Ferry, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 9:00 AM at St. Marys Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Jason Prati officiating. Burial follows in St. Marys Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Rosary devotions will be recited Monday at 3 PM followed by Wake services at 7:45 PM both in the funeral home.
