Gerald A. Jelinek, 99, of Dillonvale, Ohio, passed Thursday January 3, 2013 . He was born in Dillonvale on June 13, 1913, the youngest child of Helen and Thomas Jelinek who were in the retail business in Dillonvale. In addition to his parents and his step-father, Andrew Vojacek, Sr., he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Lundy Jelinek; and siblings Mary Jordan, James Jelinek, and Helen Pekerek. Gerald is survived by daughters Carol Ellen Webb (John David) of Erwin, Tennessee and Dr. Anne Stephens and (Daniel Stephens) of Pittsburgh and Dillonvale; three grandsons: John D. Webb, II (Cindy) of Statesville, NC., Jerald Scott of Gulf breeze, Fla., and Daniel Lundy (Nicole), of Dillonvale.; five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Kate of Statesville, NC., Cynthia Louise and Carol Anne of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Olivia Rose and Daniel Wyatt of Dillonvale. Gerald graduated Dillonvale high School in 1931, earned B.S. from Tusculum College, his M.S. from the University of Pittsburgh and had extended studies from Kent State University, WVU, East Tennessee University, Cleveland State University, and Finn School of Business. He had a longtime affiliation with the First National Bank and Steel Valley Bank of Dillonvale where he served as Chairman of the Board; school administrator, teacher, coach at Dillonvale high School, Director, YMCA in Covington, Ky.; served as Lieutenant in the US Navy and an Armed Guard Commander and Gunnery Officer in the Pacific; an Elder, Deacon and Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church, Dillonvale; Charter member of the Dillonvale-Mt. Pleasant Lions Club (past President), Life member of the American Legion, and member of the Jefferson County Teachers' Association. In keeping with Gerald's wishes, visitation and entombment was private and at the families convenience.
