Gerald D. Florence Gerald D. "Jerry" Florence, 80, of Pearl St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sat., Jan. 11, 2003 at home. He was born Aug. 18, 1922 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Earl B. and Elizabeth C. Dockter Florence. He was retired from the Martins Ferry plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry, and a veteran of the US Army WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth J. Metz Florence. Surviving are two daughters Joyce L. (William) Little of Belmont and Janet Lee Florence of Martins Ferry, two sons Gerald B. "Jay" Florence of Martins Ferry and William E. (Debbie) Florence of Gastonia, NC, a brother William E. (Virginia) Florence of Shadyside and a sister Mary Emma Norman of Wheeling, three grandchildren Douglas (Kelly) Little of Dover, Michael Little of Columbus, and Matthew Florence of North Carolina, and two great grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wed., Jan. 15, 2003 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Peter L. Pilger officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
