Geraldine M. "Gerry" (Sockman) Paull, 88, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Aug. 9, 2014 at her residence. She was born June 8, 1926 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Furbee) Sockman. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry. Gerry was past president of the Martins Ferry Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and chairperson of former Mayor John Laslo's Beautification Committee. She loved fishing, camping and sitting around the camp fire at Sally Buffalos chatting with her friends with her little dog Teequa in her lap. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Steve Paull, Jr.; brothers, Thomas, Francis, Jr. and James Sockman and sister Mildred Schmidt. Surviving are her son, John E. Paull and his wife Gail of Ridgecrest, CA; her daughter, Mary E. Paull and her husband, Jesse W. Stafford of Chadbourn, NC; brother, William Sockman of Bridgeport, OH; sister, Hazel Morrison of Colerain, OH; granddaughters, Deborah G. Paull of Ridgecrest, CA, and Bobbie Forney and her husband Matthew of Wichita, KS; and two great granddaughters and one great grandson. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Wednesday, 6-9 pm and Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 from 10 am until time of services at 11:00 am with Rev. Philip Van Dam officiating. Entombment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
