Gertrude Cecilia Beck Bowman WESTFALL, 97, departed this life on December 9, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bridgeport, Ohio on October 29, 1914, a daughter of the late Joseph Beck and Johanna Boehm Beck. Gertrude was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brookside, Ohio. She was a retired Stone & Thomas Tea Room Employee and also worked at Wheeling Downs. In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert O. Bowman; a sister Johanna Zigaceek; two children: Delores Bowman and Robert F. Bowman; and her second husband, Robert Westfall in 2009. Gertrude is survived by her son, Dennis O. Bowman and his wife Loretta, of Bellaire, Ohio; and a daughter and loving caretaker Judy Sabatino and her husband Allen, with whom she resided, and also a daughter-in-law Dorothy bowman of Martins Ferry; eight grandchildren whom she adored: Cheryl Ann Bowman whom is deceased, Trudy Kay Bowman (Steve) Craig, Tim (Demetria) Bowman, Todd (Michelle) Bowman, Audrey Bowman (Koen) Jefferis, Amy Bowman (Patrick Perusse), Lora Sabatino (Mike) Schnieder, Joseph Allen (Beth) Sabatino; sixteen great-grandchildren: Justin Craig, Adam Craig, Hannah Bowman, Nika Bowman, Shane Bowman, Brook Bowman, Ryan Perusse, Tate Perusse, Aiden Perusse, Allison Perusse, Caitlin Perusse, Justin Perusse, Patrick Perusse, Ryan Schnieder, Ellie Grace Sabatino and Olivia Faith Sabatino. Gertrude very much loved her step-family and their children: Sherry (Jim) Tilton of Summerland, Calif., Kay (Ted) Volan of Atlanta, GA., Robert Westfall Jr. of Atlanta, GA., Elaine (Geoff) Wehr of Jacksonville, Fla., Bonnie (Jeff) Jacouvetty, of Rayland, Ohio. She also had five step-grandchildren: Pat and Mike Volan, Christopher Wehr, Michael Bennett and Whitney Salerno and seven step-great-grandchildren, and a special niece and nephew, Mary Lou (Lester) Ady of Massillon, Ohio and Robert Zagaceek of Bridgeport. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio, where services will be held on Monday December 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverenced Karen Torrez, officiating.
