Gordon L. "Gordy" Roberts 72 of Bridgeport died Monday January 3, 2011 at East Ohio Regional Hospital at Martins Ferry. He was born June 21, 1938 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Charles and Jeannette Albasin Roberts. He was retired from Y&O coal, and a former employee of Georgia Carpet in Bridgeport, a member of Kirkwood United Methodist Church, a veteran of US Army, and a former member of the Brookside VFD. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a niece Karry Melnick. Gordy is survived by his wife Marian Mentz Roberts three sons Tim Roberts of Columbus, Kevin Roberts of Bridgeport, and Robbie (Mylissa) Roberts of St. Clairsville, three step-daughters Becky (Chuck) Espenschied and Wendy (Wesley) Clemens both of Triadelphia, and Shannon (Scott) Gibson of Texas, a brother Richard (Mary Ann) Roberts of Wolfhurst, five grand children Zachary, Danielle, Tyler, Kayeigh, and Gavyn Roberts, a step-granddaughter Madison Pollock, a niece Nettie (Ed) Gavorcik, a nephew Chuck (Carla) Roberts, and a cousin Dorothy Albasin. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside Thursday January 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where services will be held Friday at 11 am with Rev. Julianne Gebbie officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
