Gretchen A. Bruney, 76, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born June 10, 1938 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Edward F. "Pie" and Helen M. (Applegarth) Bruney. Gretchen retired from East Ohio Regional Hospital and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church both of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Peggy L. Holland and brothers-in-law, Earl Holland and Wayne King. Surviving are her brother, Edward D. "Pepper" (Coral) Bruney and her sister, Patti L. King both of Martins Ferry; a nephew, Mark (Muffett) King of Orlando, FL, and two nieces, Gretchen Snodgrass of St. Clairsville, OH and Paula Bruney of Martins Ferry. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Tuesday 6-8 pm and Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm where services will be held Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Elders of the church will hold bereavement services Wednesday at 7 pm at the funeral home.
