Guy Donald "Pappy" Snyder, 80, of Bethesda, Ohio passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born December 16, 1931 in Calais, Ohio, son of the late Clay Dean Snyder and Ada Oliver Snyder.
Don was retired from the Ormet Corporation. He was a former Union Local School Board member, a member of the Body of Christ, and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S.. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Bethesda Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, E. Melvina Wright; brothers, John King and Allen Eugene Snyder; and beloved nephew, Michael J. Wright.
Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley McEndree Snyder; daughters, Penny (Tim) Zdanski of Bethesda, Ohio and Sherry (Kirk) Snyder Larson of Hamilton, Virginia; son, Donald E. (Cindy) Snyder of Bethesda, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight foster grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; two aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call, Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. at Kelly Kemp Braido Funeral Home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio, where services will be conducted, Friday 11 a.m. Pastor Brian Bee officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio.
Belmont County Council Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military services, Friday 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove, but the world may be different, because I was important in the life of a child."
