Harvey W. Ashton Harvey W. Ashton, 80, of Hickory St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sat., March 30, 2002 at home. He was born Jan. 8, 1922 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Harvey W. Ashton and Alice (Scott) Ashton Dew. He was owner/operator of Ashton Piano Tuning Service and retired from the Kammer Power Plant of A.E.P. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry where he served as Secretary of the Lutheran Brotherhood, was a choir member, and active with the Tuesday Work Crew. Harvey was a member of the Ohio City Lodge No. 486 F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville; Aladdin Shrine of Columbus; American Legion Post No. 38; V.F.W. Post No. 3613; Elks Lodge No. 895; Moose Lodge of Washington, PA; Wheeling Chapter of Barber Shop Chorus and former member of Ohio Valley Choral; OPAL Keenagers; Yesteryears Band and was a current member of Denny Pasz Band. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Henry and Floyd Ashton, two sisters Margaret Jones and Alice Chmiel. Surviving are his wife Marcella G. (Vossen) Ashton, a son Harvey W. "Woody" Ashton, III of Roanoke, VA, a daughter Evron Bisbocci and her husband Edward of Martins Ferry, three grandchildren Thomas W. Ashton, Benjamin C. Ashton, and Christopher E. Bisbocci; a brother-in-law John Vossen and his wife Mary and their children Karen Smirkanis, Jacob Vossen, IV, and David Vossen, a brother James Ashton of McMechen, WV, a sister Bessie Keenan of Martins Ferry, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH Mon. 7-9 PM and Tues. 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wed. at 1:30 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter L. Pilger officiating. Masonic Ritualistic Services will be held Tues. at 7 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church, 40 N. Fourth St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
