Obituary

BURGE, Helen V., 84, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center West. She was born in Mingo Junction on August 20, 1926 and was a graduate of Mingo High School. Helen was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church, a member of the church sisterhood, choir, parish council member and officer and former Sunday school teacher. She was also the chairman of the nutroll and pascha baking for the holidays and a member of Mingo Senior Citizens, Outsiders Travel Group and retired medical records secretary for Dr. Sanford Press. In addition to her parents, John and Anna Marjavi Vag, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence Burge in 1992, sisters, Ann Pottersnak of Weirton and Mary Petrochuk of Akron and three brothers: Michael (Mike) Vag of Mingo, John Vag of Mingo and George Vag of North Hollywood, Calif., and a niece, Lt. Mary Louise Pottersnak of Weirton. Surviving Helen are nephews Gregory Vag and wife Debbie, of Mingo; Tom Petrochuk of Mogadore, Ohio and Mark Petrochuk of Utica, New York; John Vag and wife Cathy of Boardman, Ohio; nieces Marian Campbell and husband Michael of Baltimore, Ohio; Susan Smith and husband Tony of Akron, Ohio; Darlene Hicks and husband Robert of Weirton, W.Va.; Beverly Somerville and husband Ron of Parkersburg; Patricia Marjavi of San Francisco; Vickie Federoff and husband Fr. Alexander of San Diego; Judy Falstrom and husband Craig of Woodland Hills, Calif.; Tamara Newbre and husband Jim of Coppell, TX.; and Robin Brettell Richards, a very special person in her life. Helen and her family would like to thank the staff at Sienna Woods, Trinity West, the Laurels and Dr. Figel and Rosann and her caregivers for their dedication and kindness. Friends may call at Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home, 115 Union Ave., Mingo Jct., from Friday 5 to 8 p.m., the body will lie in state Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy at 11a.m. The Rev. Fr. John Kopcha will officiate. Interment will be at St. Andrew's Cemetery; panikhida services Friday at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew Orthodox Church.
