Obituary

HENRIETTA ""IVY"" NIEKRO, 93, of Lansing, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at Belmont Manor, St. Clairsville. She was born December 6, 1914 in Lansing, the daughter of the late Francis and Alexandra (Martinkowski) Klinkoski. Ivy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wolfhurst, where she was active with the Catholic Women's Club. She was a retired proofreader for the Wheeling Intelligencer/News Register and was a former cook for the St. Joseph School cafeteria and many local weddings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Philip Niekro in 1988; her son Joe Niekro; three brothers Henry, Alfred and Frank Klinkoski; and two sisters Ann Niekro and Virginia Balk. Ivy is survived by a daughter Phyllis Dillmore and her husband Ed of Evans, GA; a son Phil Niekro and his wife Nancy of Flowery Branch, GA; a brother Alex Klinkoski of West Palm Beach, FL; a daughter in-law Debra Niekro of Plant City, FL; eleven grandchildren, Philip, John, Michael, Natalie, Lance, and JJ Niekro and Eddie, Paula, Philip ""PT"", Ron and Joe Dillmore; 13 great grandchildren, Stefi, Steven, Nicole, Amanda, Alyssa, Alexa, Michael, Tyler, Brice, Logan, Emma, Ciana and Chase. Visitation will be Wednesday 6 - 8 pm and Thursday 2 - 8 pm at Wilson Funeal Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, where Vigil services will be held at 2 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wolfhurst, with Father John Mucha as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Blaine. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joe Niekro Foundation, P.O. Box 9416, Scottsdale, AZ 85252-9416, for aneurysm treatment and research.
