Herbert A. Hercules, 75, formerly of Colerain and Martins Ferry, OH, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 at Trinity West Hospital, Steubenville, OH. He was born Sept. 18, 1934 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late William Thomas and Mary L. (Barr) Hercules. He retired from the Shoemaker Coal Mining Co. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Agatha D. (Montgomery) Hercules, a brother William Hercules, and two sisters Mary Hercules and Wilma Dunkle, and a great-grandson Little Joey Jackson. Surviving are two sons Joseph Kandis, Sr. of Martins Ferry and Michael (Barb) Kandis of Wheeling, WV; three daughters Carolyn (Joseph) Jackson of New Martinsville, WV, Nancy (Clarence) Jackson of Proctor, WV, and Cindy (James R., Jr.) Bowman of Glen Robbins; a brother Richard Hercules of McMechen, WV and a sister Edna Hercules of Wheeling, twelve grandchildren Michael Hirk Kandis, Zack Richard Kandis, Shane Lee Kandis , Austin Bam Bam Kandis, Joseph Kandis, Jr., Jessica Kandis, Debra Bertrand, Rodney and Joseph Jackson, Tracy Myers, Dirk Bowman and Brock Bowman; and ten great grandchildren Stephanie and James Richards, Samantha Jo Namlik, Rodney Dean Jackson, Desiree Jackson, Kallie Jackson, Levi McBee, Corwin and Morgan Kandis, and Tyler and Kaidence Kandis, and a great-great grandchild Kaylin Namlik.
