Obituary

Hila Carpenter, 98, of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at Barnesville Hospital. He was born January 26,1913 in Belmont County, a son of the late Clem Carpenter and Mary Mosburg Carpenter. Hila was a lifelong farmer, a former sawmill operator, and retired from the Village of Barnesville. He loved to play the fiddle, and tell stories. He was also an avid coon hunter, and a member of the Pisgah Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Civilla A. Stephen Carpenter, and sons, Melvin and Marvin Carpenter, six half sisters and five half brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Melva Howell, sons, Vallas (Helen) Carpenter, and John (Rose Ann) Carpenter all of Barnesville, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grand children, and three great-great grandchildren. Friends were received Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at where services were held Tuesday with Gale Yoho officiating. Burial was in Crestview Cemetery Barnesville. Memorial contributions may be made to the
