Obituary

Homer D. Monahan, 93, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at Crown Pointe Care Center, Columbus, OH. He was born June 30, 1919 in Shadyside, OH a son of the late Joseph L. and Clara (Forni) Monahan. He retired from Nickles Bakery of Martins Ferry and was a member of of the former V.F.W Post #3613 of Martins Ferry. Homer was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, WW II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Mackulics) Monahan, four brothers; Wayne, Stanford, Kenneth, and Charles Monahan, five sisters; Marie Anderson, Irene Heil, Florence Glaser, Ada Schafer and Vera Nicholson. Surviving are two sons; Michael (Christine) Monahan of Worthington, OH and Richard (Carol) Monahan of Alexander, VA, a daughter Maribeth (John) Snyder of Florence, KY, six grandchildren; Dr. Lauren (Dr. Alex) Post, MD, Colin (Jennifer) Monahan, Christopher (April) Monahan, Megan (Brenton) Krombach, and Stephanie and Andrew Snyder and four great grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, 10:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH. Burial follows in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Military honors will be held at the funeral home prior to the services by the VFW Belmont County Honor Guard.
