Howard "Doug" Atwood, 65, of New Philadelphia passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at Truman House, New Philadelphia.  He was born on August 10, 1953, a son of the late Howard "Bill" and Alice (Hayman) Atwood.  He was employed by the Ohio County Coal Mine and was an avid drag racing enthusiast.

Doug is survived by his four children, Steven Atwood of Uhrichsville, Eric (Lisa) Atwood of Gnadenhutten, Jennifer (Stanley) Cox of Dover, and Brandan Atwood of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Alice (Jess) Pugh and Lee Ann Lewis; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Monica Custer.

Friends may call Monday from 11am until the time of service at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St. Dillonvale.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 1pm in the funeral home with Thomas Schrader officiating.  Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
