Howard M. "Bud" Vickers, Jr. 81, of Colerain Rd., Bridgeport, OH died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. He was born Aug. 28, 1926 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Howard M. Sr. and Lilian (Cobb) Vickers. He was retired from the Belmont County Joint Vocational School, St. Clairsville, OH. Howard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry where he was an Elder, American Legion, Past Master of Ohio City Lodge # 486 F. & A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 23rd Masonic District, Knight York Cross of Honor, Past Patron of Weyer Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Centerville, OH, Past High Priest of Martins Ferry Chapter #173 R.A.M., Past Illustrious Master of Bellaire Council # 87 R.&S.M. Past Commander of Hope Commandary #26 K.T., Bridgeport, OH, Scottish Rite of Steubenville A.A.S.R., Valley of Steubenville, El Tor Grotto, Wheeling, WV, and the Panhandle Chapter of the Antique American Auto Club. He was a veteran of the Navy Seabee, WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Betty Clark. Surviving are his wife Suzanne (Gold) Vickers, three daughters Christine Vickers Golden of Toledo, OH, Margaret Roberts of Colerain, OH, and Jane Roberts of Atlanta, GA, a brother Barrie Vickers and a sister Jeanann Vickers both of Martins Ferry. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Friends will then be received Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 from noon until time of services at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Dr. Bill Lawrence officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Masonic Ritualistic Services will be held Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
