Howard Mason Howard "Mooch" Mason, 82, of Georgetown, OH died Thurs., Jan. 31, 2002 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Sept. 11, 1919 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Herbert and Matilda Trott Mason. He was a retired inspector for the former Picoma Industries of Martins Ferry, a Deacon and Church Council member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a retired member of the Martins Ferry Fire Dept. Alert Engine Co. and the Emergency Squad, past member and president of the Martins Ferry School Board, and past member of the Betty Zane Square Dancers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ann L. Dull Mason, three brothers Herbert, Melvin, and Bernard, and three sisters Orpha, Aimie, and Virginia, adoptive parents Harrison B. and Emma Seabright Chambers, brother and sisters Karl Chambers, Marie Cunningham and Wilma Tice. Surviving are his wife Florence S."Flossie" (Speer) Mason, a son Dr. John H. Mason of Columbus, a daughter Jane A. Dykes and her husband Steven of Dallas, TX, a step-son Charles W. Fithen and his wife Rose, a brother Walter Mason of Frazer, MI, a sister Betty Jett of Weirton, WV, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, adoptive brother and sisters Albert "Zip" Chambers and his wife Grace of Lansing, Mary Emily Raimonde and her husband Orlando of Tiltonsville, Jean Logsdon of Martins Ferry, and Barbara Palkovich and her husband Paul of Bellaire. Friends will be at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH on Sun. from 12 Noon-9 PM and Mon. 11 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 40 N. Fourth St., Martins Ferry, OH with Rev. Peter L. Pilger officiating. Burial follows in Olive Branch Cemetery, Harrisville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
