July 18, 1926 – October 5, 2011
Icaros (Zeke) Chacalos 85 of Bridgeport formerly of Wheeling, passed away Wednesday October 5, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 18, 1926 in Wheeling, to Peter and Lambrini (Esther) Chacalos. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Everpides (Earl), Manuel, Jim, Tom, and George Chacalos, and sisters Vasilia (Bessie) Panas, Artemis Kalay, grandson David Coulson and son-in-law Sid Poulos. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the 617 Port Company in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, he retired from Wheeling- Pittburgh Steel Beech Bottom Plant, and a member of St. John Divine Greek Orthodox Church. He was a member of the Cave Club, VFW, Eagles, American Legion, Cane Club, and Iola Club just to name a few. Left to cherish his memory are 1 brother Paul (Vaitsa) Chacalos of Wheeling, four children; Kathy Poulos of Bridgeport, Sue (Robert) Harper of Virginia Beach, Michele (Dave) Orosz of Wheeling, Emanuel (Nolly) of Bridgeport,Zeke's ex-wife and friend Betty (Earl) Rogers, grandchildren George Poulos, Chuck and John Coulson, Jennifer Robinson, Shawn and Matt Chacalos, Nick and Chris Orosz, great grandchildren Sidney, Zeke, Kennedy and Maggie Poulos, Alexis and Taylor Coulson, Jenna Baratie, many cousins, nieces and nephews in the US and Island of Ikaria in Greece. Members of the family will receive friends at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside Sunday October 9, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Monday from 1 pm till time of service at 2 pm,interment in Greenwood Cemetery Wheeling. Full Military services will be held by the Belmont County Council of the VFW at 1:45 on Monday at the Funeral Home. The family wants to acknowledge and thank Medi Home Health and Hospice especially the care given by Nurse Lisa.
