Irene Fornal, 94, of Bridgeport, OH died January 15, 2021 as a result of Covid-19.  She was born July 4th, 1926, in Bridgeport, OH, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Prhne) Simoncic.  A loving wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Stanley Fornal.  She was also preceded by her three brothers, Joseph, John, and Stanley Simoncic;  and four sisters, Johanna (Honey) Strauss, Christine Parrish, Sophie Blazek and Mary Melchiori.

She leaves behind her 2 daughters, Janice Withers (of Leesburg, Virginia), and Karen Bendig (of Centerburg, Ohio) and is also survived by her 4 grandchildren; Brian Withers, Lauren Withers, Alex Bendig, and Colleen Bendig.

A graduate of St. John Central HS and trained as a bookkeeper, she worked for King's Jewelers for 70 years in both Wheeling and St. Clairsville.  She was a devoted Catholic and long time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Anne's KSKJ Lodge.

A closed service will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Brookside on Thursday  with Father John Mucha officiating, interment to follow at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
