Irene Kubic Slavik , 87, died Sunday, January 15, 2012, at her home in St.Clairsville, Ohio. She was born December 24, 1924, in Blaine, Ohio, where she lived until 2008. Irene was the last surviving child of the late George and Rose Timko Kubic.Irene was a homemaker ; a wife , mother , and grandmother ; an active Catholic member of All Saints Catholic Church in Blaine until its closing. In addition to her parents , Irene was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Frankovich, Rose Agnes Koci, Mary Ann McKay, and her brothers George Kubic and Albert Kubic. A son Edward Slavik, Jr, died January 5, 2011.She is survived by Edward Slavik, Sr., her husband of 62 years, Also surviving are her daughters Susan Douglass and Mary (Gary) Griffith, both of St. Clairsville, and her son Stephen (Cindy) Slavik of New Albany, OH. In addition are 8 grandchildren: Edward Justin Slavik, Nathaniel (Nadia) Slavik, Suzanna Slavik, Rebecca Griffith, Jennifer Griffith, Louis Griffith, Ellen Slavik and Isabella Slavik ; many nieces and nephews. Irene was a member of St.Mary's Catholic Church, St.Clairsville.Visitation will be Wednesday , January 18, from 4pm - 8pm, at Wilson Funeral Home, Bridgeport, OH. Prayer services will be at 3:45pm. Rosary devotions will be at 8pm. On Thursday, January 19, visitation will begin at 10:00am in St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clairsville where Rev. Thomas Chillog will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am.
