Jack S. Provezis, 83, of Houston, TX, formerly of Detroit, MI and Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 at his residence. He was born July 5, 1925 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Stamatis "Steve" Provezis and Katherine (Zacharias) Provezis. He was a retired agent for Northwest Mutual Life Insurance Company. Jack was a member of the Livonia Lodge #586 F. & A. M. of Livonia, MI. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps WWII and a Greek Orthodox by faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son William "Bill" Provezis. Surviving are his son Steve Provezis and his wife Judy of Katy, TX, two brothers Gus (JoAnn) Provezis of Sarasota, FL and Nick (Eva) Provezis of Palmetto, FL, a sister Ann Karpathakis of Charlotte, NC, and two grandchildren Zachary and Jessica Provezis. Friends will be received Sunday 6-9 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Life Giving Fountain, Martins Ferry with Rev. Menelaos Papageorgiou officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Trisagion services will be held Sunday at 7:30 pm in the funeral home.
