Obituary

Jack "Chicken" Slensky 96, of Dillonvale, died October 2, 2011 at Autumn Health Care of Adena. He was born November 18, 1914 in Barton, a son of the late Frank and Johanna (Swider) Slensky. He was a member of St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Dillonvale, a retired coal miner with Consol Coal Co.; he also loved his gardening, and was a handyman to all his relatives and his own home. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" (Juhasz) Slensky, a son James Slenska, three brothers Edward, Stanley, and Marion, two sisters Catherine Filipkowski, and Anna Tonderski, a godson James Toth. "Chicken" is survived by a daughter Jeanette Slenska of Dillonvale, a daughter-in-law Olga Slenska of Johnstown Pa., a sister Helen Toth of Dillonvale, three grandchildren John (Karen), Michael (Amy) both of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Carolyn of Alexandria Va., three great grandchildren Tara, Hannah, and Nathan, several nieces and nephews. Members of the family will receive friends at the Wilson Funeral 154 Second Street Dillonvale, Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8, where Mass of Christian Burial will be said Thursday at 10 am at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church Dillonvale with Msgr. John Kolesar officiating, interment in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove. Vigil Service will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert's Catholic Church Dillonvale, or to the charity of the donors choice.
