Jackie Sommer Walford 70, of Bridgeport was blessed to receive her final prayer request when she laid down to rest and awoke in her Father's arms on September 11, 2014 at OVMC. She was born October 28, 1943 in Martins Ferry, a daughter of the late Harry Sommer and Glendora (John) Martin (Koch). She worked at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and for various health care providers. She was a member of the First Christian Church Martins Ferry where she taught Beginner Church and was a Deaconess, former president of the Belmont County Right to Life, and dedicated prayer warrior and encourager of the faith. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." She personified this verse. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Edwin "Dinny" Walford, and survived by daughters Amy (Jeff) Porter of Wheeling, Terri (Matthew) Lloyd of Oak Ridge TN, and Leighann (Tommy) Zinn of Martins Ferry, sisters JoAnn Koch and Georgia Bosley of Martins Ferry, a brother Harry (Christine) Sommer of Greenville, NC, and ten grandchildren: J. T. and Luke Porter; Naomi, Cami, Natasha, and Jack Lloyd; Haylee, Kaylynn, Laci, and Elijah Zinn. There will be a celebration of Jackie's life on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road, Brookside. There will also be visitation on Monday from 10 am until time of service at 11 am at the First Christian Church 710 S. Zane Highway Martins Ferry, with Minister Rod Kasler officiating, interment in Linwood Cemetery Blaine.
