James W. Caldwell, 89 of St. Clairsville formerly of Martins Ferry passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Liza's Place in Wheeling, WV. He was born October 6, 1934, in Martins Ferry, the son of the late James W. "Bill" and Genevieve E. (Holbrook) Caldwell.

Jim was retired from Swisher International of Wheeling, a member of the City Lodge #486 F & A.M., the Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Baptist by faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joan Lizabeth (Smith) Caldwell and stepson, Albert Benczo.

Surviving are his children, Tammy (Gary) Visnic of Benwood, Thomas (Cathy) Caldwell, Richard (Lori) Caldwell both of McMechen, William Caldwell of Warwood, brother Thomas (Jill) Caldwell of Canton, Ohio, 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren complete the family.

Family and friends will be received Friday, February 9, 2024, from 10 till time of service at 1pm at the Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935. Full Military Honors will be presented by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 12:45 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 1pm with Rev. James Hoff officiating, burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of James W. Caldwell to "The Fund for Ophthalmic Knowledge Foundation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY, 10065.
