James J. Dull, 86, of Conno Mara Dr., Bellaire, OH formerly of Ferryview Rd., Martins Ferry, OH died Thur., May 17, 2007 at Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire, OH. He was born Aug. 1, 1920 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Steve K. and Agnes (Karakes) Dull. He was retired from the former Bloch Brothers Tobacco Company, Wheeling, WV and owner and operator of the former Dull Jewelry. James was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry, and also the Wheeling Symphony for forty-six years and a life time member of the A. F. of M. Local #142, Wheeling, and attended the University of Kentucky where he studied business. He was a well known Swing & Jazz Band Trumpet player. James was a member of the Wheeling Steel Orchestra for 40 years retiring in 1981. He was in the pit orchestra for the NBC Network Radio Show where he met his wife Irene of fifty-nine years where she was the head liner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Irene M. (Vogler) Dull, a brother Allador "Al" S. Dull and a sister Agnes R. Dull. Surviving are a son J. Jeffrey Dull of Palm Coast, Fl, a daughter Cynthia M. (Pat) McAfee of Missoula, MT, and two granddaughters Danielle Dull of Bellaire, OH, and Jolene Dull of Cincinnati, OH. Special thanks to Elizabeth Vogler and Jan and Amanda Orkoskey. Friends will be received Fri., 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry where services will be held Sat., May 19, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Bill Lawrence officiating. Burial follows in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
