James F. Gordon, 82, of Elm St., Martins Ferry, OH died Mon., Nov. 22, 2004 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. He was born Mar., 24, 1922 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late George F. and Marie A. (Dougherty) Gordon. He was a retired freight conductor for Conrail Railroad. Jim served on Martins Ferry City Council for 10 years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry; Lansing Foresters; Elks Lodge #895 of Martins Ferry; American Legion Post #227 of Bridgeport; United Transportation Union; life member of the former V.F.W. Post 3613; honorary member of Martins Ferry Ladder Co.; and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey D. Gordon and two brothers Walter L. and John R. Gordon. Surviving are his wife of 60 years Betty Lou (Williams) Gordon, two sons John L. of Martins Ferry and James E. of Rayland and a daughter Cynthia L. of Martins Ferry, three grandchildren Jeffrey, Barbara, and Kathy Sue, and seven great grandchildren Brittany, D.J., Ayana, Jessica, Jennifer, Matthew, and Larry. Friends will be received Thurs. 5-9 PM and Fri., Nov. 26, 2004, from 11 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM with Minister Rod Kasler officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
