James A. Hood, 61, of Kennedy Ave., Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born April 17, 1948 in Martins Ferry a son of Freda Cook and the late Maskery Hood. Jim worked for the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Barbara (Gibbons) Hood, a daughter Allison Hood and her fiancé David Hacker of Martins Ferry, three brothers Don(Ruth) Hood of Martins Ferry, Jerry (Mary) Hood of Edgewater, FL, and Raymond Hood of St. Clairsville, OH, a sister-in-law Nancy Cominsky of Tiltonsville, OH, and his father-in-law Dick Gibbons of Tiltonsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who called him the "Mayor" and many friends who called him "Uncle", and his loving dog Madie. Friends will be received Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
