James W. "Jim" Cook, 80, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Friday, December 30, 2016 at Barnesville Hospital. Born October 16, 1936 in Barnesville, Ohio, Jim was the son of the late Alva G. Cook and Hallie O. Hall Cook.
A very active member of Assumption Catholic Church, Jim always gave moral support to parish activities. He was a member of the Barnesville Chamber of Commerce, Pumpkin Festival, Kiwanis, Elks, 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and Senior Citizen Center. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who was strong in his faith and giving beyond words.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant sons, Joseph Anthony Cook and John Allen Cook; brothers, Carl, Donald, and Delbert Cook; sisters, Bertha Cook and Patty Ward; and son-in-law, Eugene Milhoan.
Jim is survived by his best friend and love of his life of 59 years, Evelyn Cook of Barnesville, Ohio; daughters, Rose (Larry) Grear of Barnesville, Ohio, Beth (Mike) Louden of Beallsville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and brother, George (Betty) Cook of Jacksonville, Florida.
Family and friends are welcome to visit, Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory Kelly Kemp Braido, 702 East Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio. An Elks Service will begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Vigil Service, and concluding with the Praying of the Rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., Assumption Catholic Church, 306 West Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Father Dave Cornett and Monsignor Mark Froehlich presiding. Interment will follow at Barnesville Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio.
