James E. Kain, 75, of Colerain, OH, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born Aug. 14, 1938 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Peter and Justina (Lander) Kain. He was retired from Ormet Corp.where he worked in the Engineering and Purchasing Departments for over 20 years. Jim was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brookside, OH, Ohio City Lodge #486 F. & A.M. of Martins Ferry and Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville. He was very active as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader for over 17 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Bobby Kain and sister, Ruth Ann Logston. Surviving are his wife of 55 years Carolyn R. (Redman) Kain, two sons; Richard (Synthia) Kain of Dayton, OH and Scott (Beth) Kain of Adena, OH, two sisters; Evelyn Miller of Colerain and Penny (Paul) Cornwell of St. Clairsville, OH and five grandchildren; Luke J. Kain, Skylar M. Kain, Robert E. Kain, Karl J. Kain and Anna E. Kain. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm and Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 10 am until time of services at 11:00 am at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH with Pastor Karen Torrez officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Masonic Ritualistic Services will be held Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
