Obituary

James O. McAninch, 82, of Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at his home. He was born Aug. 31, 1927 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Franklin and Sue (Fry) McAninch. He was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. James was a member of the First Christian Church, Past Commander of the former V.F.W. Post #3613, American Legion Post # 38, Italian-American Club, and the former Eagles Aries #456all of Martins Ferry. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Army WW II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lee (Riebold) McAninch, two brothers Frank and Robert McAninch, and a sister Dorothy Pezel. Surviving are two daughters Janet L. (Luther) Elerick of Jacobsburg, OH, and Judy (Joseph) Tweedlie of Martins Ferry, a brother Donald McAninch of Yorkville, OH, four sisters Helen Nagler of Martins Ferry, Manile Sheelee of Mt. Pleasant, OH, Shirley Hofman of Wheeling, WV, and Sally Redinger of Chicago, IL, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at 10:30 am with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Belmont County Council of the V.F.W. will conduct military honors at the funeral home prior to the services.
