James M. "Mike" Dawes, 60, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at his residence. He was born January 29, 1950 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late James W. and June Anne "Liz"(Nicastro) Dawes. He was an employee of the Mingo Plant of Severstal Wheeling Steel. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology. Surviving are two sons Adam (Michelle) Dawes of N. Charleston, SC and Michael "Mikey" Dawes of Mt. Pleasant, OH, a daughter Erin Dawes of Pittsburgh, PA, his wife Debbie (Spoon) Dawes of Mt. Pleasant, OH, two brothers David H. (Michele) Dawes, of Canal Fulton, OH and Brian C. (Shelley) Dawes of Emerson, OH, two sisters Jennie Dawes of Twinsburg, OH and Anne Margaret (Michael) Martin of Nashville, TN, many nieces and nephews, and a beloved dog, Flint. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Byron McElroy officiating. Burial follows in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
