Jim retired as a loan officer for City Loan. He was a member of the First Christian Church and American Legion Post #38 both of Martins Ferry. Jim was involved for many years as the bingo operator for Martins Ferry Eagles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition of his parents Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ryan and sisters; Donna Hanks and Gerrie Leach. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Margaret M. (Palmer) Mohney, daughter, Anna Jo (Steven) Shimble of Bellaire, son, Paul R. (Amanda) Mohney, II of Wellsburg, WV, daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Shinoski of Fairpoint, OH, grandchildren; Angela (Jared) Stock, James (Trista) Mohney, Emily, Jacob, and Ashlyn Shimble, and Kathleen Mohney and four great grandchildren, brothers; Carl (Peg) Ryan of Adena, OH and Willis (Vera) Mohney of Columbus, OH, and sister, Peggy (Don) Lipperman of Medina, OH. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Sunday, 12-3 & 6-8 pm where services will be held Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10:00 am with Minister Rod Kasler officiating.
