James Puperi, 85, of Hughes Ave., Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 in Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born June 9, 1925 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Cassol) Puperi. He was retired from the Martins Ferry Water Department. James was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry and the former V.F.W. Post # 3613, Martins Ferry. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Navy, WW II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Coram) Puperi, a daughter Barbara Jean Harbison, a brother Ambrose Puperi, three sisters Virginia Puperi, Perina Johnson, and Philomenia Zanke. Surviving are a son Ronald (Carolyn) Puperi of Martins Ferry, a daughter Sally Wodusky of Wheeling, WV, a brother Albert Puperi of CA, a sister Mary (Conard) Fowler of Canton, OH, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday 2:00pm till 7:00 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at 10:00 am with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Burial follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
