James E. Roth, 67, of Martins Ferry, OH died Wednesday, Jan. 11 2012 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. He was born May 5, 1944 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Fritz J. and Margaret E. (Gazda) Roth. Jim was retired from the Beech Bottom Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus both of Martins Ferry. He was also an honorary member of the Martins Ferry Fire Department, Liberty Engine Company, where he was a past Captain. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann Kloss. Surviving are his daughter; Ellie Padgelek of Bridgeport, OH, a son, James E. Roth Jr. of Martins Ferry, two brothers, Fred Roth of Columbus, OH and Melvin (Raella) Roth of Martins Ferry and two grandchildren, Lukas and Anna Padgelek. Friends will be received Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 from 10 am until 12:30 pm at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tom Marut officiating at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, OH. Martins Ferry Fire Department will hold services Saturday at 11:30 am in the funeral home.
