James A. Strama, 78, of Sunny Acres Dr., Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, December 24, 2016 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born March 21, 1938 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Victor F. and Goldie M. (Applegarth) Strama. He was retired from International Harvester, Shadyside, OH. James was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Brookside, OH, Disable America Veteran, Post 117, Bellaire, OH and American Legion Post 38, Martins Ferry. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Army, Vietnam Era. In addition to his parents he was preceded death by his brother Richard Strama. Surviving are his wife Dorothy (Coss) Strama, son, James A. (Jackie) Strama, Jr. of St. Clairsville, OH, brother, John (Nancy) Strama of Charlotte, NC and grandchildren; Andrew, Tyler, Kelly, Jimmy and Katie. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Military services will be held by the by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion Wednesday at 10:45 am at the funeral home.
