James Harland Whitlatch, 67, of Mount Pleasant, Ohio, passed away December 13, 2011, at home. He was born March 17, 1944, in Benwood, WV, the son of the late Elzie and Dessie Whitlatch. He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and the local police force after 30 years of service. He also served in the US Army for six years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann Canterbury. He is survived by his wife Frances McVeigh Whitlatch of 45 years and his three daughters Cindy (Randy) Matthews of Fowlerville, Michigan; Regina (Jeff) VanCamp of Wellsburg, WV; and Cathy (Rob) Thomas of Montevallo, Alabama; 6 grandchildren Mia Matthews and her fiancé Justin Kyser; Austin and Alex VanCamp; Coty Jones, Jordynn and Tabetha Thomas. He is also survived by 8 siblings: Angie (Art) Loy, Ross (Patty) Whitlatch, Samantha (John) Mucheck, Irene Parravani, Sandy (Alan) Jafrate, Penny (Bruce)West, Anna May (Mike) Gracik, and Brenda (Dan)Villani. Friends will be received Saturday December 17, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second Street, Dillonvale, Ohio. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
