Janet Marie Poluga, 72, of Martins Ferry passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at home. She was born in Martins Ferry on November 24, 1950, the youngest child of the late Forrest and Regina (Neal) Pettit.

Janet graduated from Wheeling College in 1972. She married her husband, Michael, in 1972 and the couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in September 2022. Janet retired as a librarian at Martins Ferry Public Library and worked as a secretary at St. Mary Central School in Martins Ferry. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Martins Ferry. Janet spent the winter months at Voyager RV Resort in Tucson, AZ. She cherished time with her family and friends and was an avid reader, quilter, and knitter.

Surviving are her husband, Michael; favorite older daughter, Alison (Jeremy) Young and grandson Logan Young all of South Orange, NJ; favorite younger daughter, Alicia (Dave) McKnight of Orland Park, IL; and siblings Regina (Richard) Reichley of Columbus, OH., Dale (Ana) Pettit of San Jose, Costa Rica, Joan (George) McCaffrey of Miamisburg, OH; and sister-in-law Paula Gorsuch of Columbus, OH.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 15 from 4-8 pm and Thursday, March 16 from 10 – 10:45 am at Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry. A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, March 16 at 11am at St. Mary Church in Martins Ferry with Fr. Thomas Marut officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum in Martins Ferry, OH.
