Sustersic
April 24, 1925 – October 28, 2015
Jean (Waugh) Sustersic, 90, of Kimbolton, OH., passed Wednesday October 28, 2015. Born on April 24, 1925 in Brookside, Ohio, she was the third daughter of the deceased Harry and Ruth Waugh. Her sisters Ruth McCloud, Betty Runyon and brother John Baker. Her journey into adulthood led her to meet the love of her life Louis Edward Sustersic. Their union lasted 62 years until his death in 2012. This was the second marriage for both of them. They enjoyed a loving, warm, hardworking, wonderful life together. Dad loved working in the soil and gardening while she canned and froze his bounty of vegetables. He also had a talent and love of designing homes for them. They were a perfect pair working together hand in hand on every project. Jean loved her cats, dogs and nature. She fed any of God's creatures with the exception of snakes who wandered onto their 67 acre farm in Kimbolton, OH. Prior to Kimbolton, they resided in Cleveland in a home Dad totally remodeled to fit their lifestyle. Dad also built a beautiful home especially for her in Northfield, OH. This was her palace and she was the typical 1950 princess housewife. They both enjoyed the pond in the front yard that she stocked with goldfish. On some winter weekends family skated on the frozen pond and were warmed by hot cocoa and homemade cookies.. She also welcomed home every baby in the family with a decorated homemade birthday cake. As a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Northfield, OH, she volunteered many hours to housekeeping in the church. This was her way of giving back to God for his goodness. She and Dad hosted many dinner parties, cook outs and New Years Eve parties. Bringing together neighbors, friends, and fellow co-workers from Republic Steel where Dad was Superintendent of 1400 workers. While she didn't take lessons, she was a natural artist and loved to paint and draw. Many of her oils and watercolors were passed to her daughter and grandchildren. She had a wonderful circle of friends and was duly blessed with a devoted and loving family. Her kindness and love touched many lives. Jean never met a stranger. Everyone who met her left with a small part of her forever within them. Whether you knew her for her faith and trust in God, cooking, baking, entertaining and everything in between, she no doubt left a great memory in your life. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Riedel (John); grandchildren: Laurel Ratcliff (Don), John Riedel (Rebecca) and Jennifer Riedel.
