Jeanne E. (Morgan) Schmitt, 85, of National Rd., Wheeling, WV formerly of Martins Ferry died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV. She was born June 14, 1923 in Martins Ferry, OH a daughter of the late William and Anna Margaret (Krinke) Morgan. She was retired from the main office of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, Wheeling, WV, and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter H. Schmitt, a brother Paul Morgan, a sister Helen Morgan Hannan. Surviving are a nephew William "Bill" (Judy) Morgan of Bellaire, OH, two nieces Nancy (Ray) Wagener of Martins Ferry, and Patricia Hannan (Ray) Kosiba of Rockledge, FL, three step-sons Frank Schmitt of Grants Pass, OR, Stephen Schmitt and John Schmitt both of Wheeling, two step-daughters Therese Kurtze of Towson, MD and Maureen Farmer of Wheeling, four step-grandchildren Leah Farmer of Atlanta, Sophie C. Kurtze of Towson, MD, Haley and Hagar Schmitt both of Wheeling, and several great nieces and great nephews Friends will be received Monday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry with Pastor Philip Van Dam officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry of St. John's Lutheran Church, 40 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH.
