Jeannie (Boehm) Splenda, 48, of Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, Mar. 9, 2012. She was born May 20, 1963 in Martins Ferry a daughter of Albert J. and Patricia (Lewis) Boehm. Jeannie was a fifth grade math and social studies teacher for the Martins Ferry School System. She loved her students like they were her own. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry where she served on the parish council. Jeannie was a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order and will be missed by her book club friends known as the "Wormies". Jeannie's love for giving to others continues with the donation of her organs so others my live a better life. Surviving in addition to her parents of Martins Ferry are her two sons Ryan J. Splenda of Pittsburgh, PA and Stephen P. Splenda of Martins Ferry, grandmother Adelheide "Ella" Boehm of Martins Ferry, two brothers Scott (Ann) Boehm of Alexandria, VA and Michael (Cheryl) Boehm of Martins Ferry, a sister Erin Kirby of Martins Ferry, a special nephew Nicholas Boehm, and a special niece and goddaughter Emily Kirby. Friends will be received Tuesday 6-8 pm and Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Mar. 15, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Revs. Tom Marut and Thomas A. Magary officiating. Burial follows in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. Rosary devotions will be recited Wednesday at 3:00 pm followed by Prayers Services at 7:00 pm both in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Secular Franciscan Order, Brother Bob Herrick, 665 Stone & Shannon Rd., Wheeling, WV 26003. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
