Jerry Helt, Sr., 76, of Washington St., Martins Ferry, OH died Tue., Nov. 23, 2004. He was born Mar. 6, 1928 in Bridgeport, OH a son of the late August and Anna Mae (Rowan) Helt. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, after which he worked for the former Picoma Industries of Martins Ferry, and then retired from East Ohio Regional Hospital of Martins Ferry. Jerry was a member of the First U. Methodist Church of Martins Ferry and the Bridgeport Eagles. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Damon Helt and a sister Lucie Shue. Surviving are his wife Shirley R. (Jones) Helt, two sons R. Jerry (Debbie) Helt, Jr. of Waller, TX and Jeff (Sue) Helt of Shadyside, a daughter Jackie Helt of Martins Ferry, a brother August Helt, Jr. of Orlando, FL and a sister Susan Hamilton of St. Clairsville, five grandchildren: Mandy and Adam Helt, Sharon (Kenny) Doan, Teresa (Joseph) Hanks, and Barbara (Brandon) Gray, three great grandchildren: Siarha Hanks, Brianna Doan, and an unborn great grandchild. Friends will be received Fri. from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Sat., Nov. 27, 2004 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Van D. Fisher and Rev. Dr. D. Larry Kline officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove with military honors by the Belmont Co. Council of the V.F.W.
