Theiss, Joan M. 83, of Wheeling formerly of Wolfhurst, died Saturday June 16, 2012 at Bishop Hodges Continuous Care Center Wheeling. She was born August 13, 1928 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Anton and Anna Pozar Smila. She was a retired employee of Carson Petroleum in Lansing, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Wolfurst. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alfred W. Theiss, four sisters Mary Krasevec, Josephine Rock, Anna Zadell, and Amelia Nemec, three brothers John, Frank and Anthony Smila. Joan is survived by a sister Olga Poluga of Martins Ferry, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside Tuesday June 19,2012 from 4-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church Martins Ferry, with Fr. Thomas Marut officiating, interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Wheeling. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Central School 24 N. 4th St. Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
