John Peter Barkey, 69, of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 19, 1951 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late John P. and Mary R. (Minder) Barkey Sr. John was a graduate from Ohio University with a degree in Education, he retired from the City of Martins Ferry and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. John was an avid reader, history buff and a trivia champion.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lee Ann (Kinneer) Barkey; 2 daughters, Sarah (Jeff) Aspenleiter and Lydia Barkey (Christopher Haught); grandchildren John Henry Aspenleiter (Buddy) and Scarlett Anne Aspenleiter (Peanut); a sister, Mary Jane (Ray) Baker and his ever-faithful co-pilots, Smokey and Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Istavan and Lidia (Masterhazi) Barki and maternal grandparents, Wilbert and Mary Theresa (Neal) Minder.
