John P. Frazier, 78, of Harbel Dr., St. Clairsville, OH died Sun., Oct. 24, 2004 at Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville. He was born Nov. 3, 1925 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late William V. and Clara (Yoe) Frazier, Jr. John graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1943 and after spending three years in the U.S. Navy during WWII he attended Ohio Wesleyan University. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1950. John moved to Martins Ferry in the same year and practiced law with his father until his death in 1963. He retired in 2001 from the law firm of Frazier and Sommer of Martins Ferry. John was a member of the Martins Ferry Public Library Board of Trustees for many years; American Legion Post #38; former V.F.W. Post #3613; Elks Lodge #895; and former Kiwanis Club all of Martins Ferry. He was also a previous member of the Martins Ferry Civil Service Commission. John was past president of the Belmont Co. Bar Association and a member of the Ohio State and American Bar Association. In earlier days he was active with the Belmont Co. Young Democrats which led him to becoming a delegate at the 1956 Democratic National Convention. He also held the title of Life Master in Bridge which he enjoyed for many years along with his great love for sports. Surviving are his wife Beverly J. (Kronenweth) Frazier, a son John Martin (Kelli) Frazier of Cross Lanes, WV, three daughters Lisa (Wayne) Hallenbeck of Worthington, OH, Lynn Tolbert of Columbus, and Mary (David) Vaughn of Houston, TX, four brothers George P. (Janet) Frazier of Wheeling, William M. (Teena) Frazier of Cyprus, Greece, Frank G. (Ginny) Frazier of Wooster, and Robert (Pat) Frazier of Williamsburg, VA, six grandchildren Matthew Tolbert, Nicole Stover, Brian and Toni Herbes, Paul Michael Holmes, and Melissa Markham, five great grandchildren. Friends will be received Wed., Oct. 27, 2004 from 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martins Ferry Public Library, 20 James Wright Pl., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
