John "Bob" Robert Fulkerson, 90, of Bethesda, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at Barnesville Hospital. He was born on March 29, 1922 in Baileys Mills, Ohio, the youngest son of the late Harry and Julia Deaver Fulkerson.
He was a retired miner from North American Coal Company and a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 1st Air Commando Group in Burma, where he received two Bronze Stars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 63 years, Goldie Adkins Fulkerson, who passed away March 16, 2010; sisters, Mildred Richter, Amy Toohey, Lucille Shilling, Laura Jackson, Gladys Blundon, and Alice Clark; brother, Henry Fulkerson; and granddaughter, Angie Fulkerson.
Surviving is his daughter, Judy (John) Groves of Somerton, Ohio; son, John Robert Fulkerson, Jr. of Caldwell, Ohio; grandchildren, Cherie (Jason) Covert of Barnesville, Ohio and Tim Groves of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit, Monday 5 to 8 p.m., at Kelly Kemp Braido & Patron Funeral home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio where the service will be conducted, Tuesday 2:30 p.m. Pastor Bob Merritt will be officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio.
VFW Honor Guard will conduct a military service at 2:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
