John W. Higgins, 57, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his home. He was born September 27, 1956 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, son of the late Robert L. Higgins and Mary Bean Higgins Shinall. John was a Baptist by faith. He loved Bingo, sudko puzzles, and was an avid TV watcher. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Higgins, Jr. and two great nephews. John is survived by his wife, Bonnie M. Higgins of Bethesda, whom he married February 17, 1978; three children, Derek W. Roby of Bethesda, Shawn A. Higgins of Mt. Olivet, Rebecca J. Higgins of Belmont; four grandchildren, Trace Roby, Malachi Higgins, Kassi Roby, Harlee Higgins; sisters, Lois (Jean) Higgins of Jerusalem, Verna (Beege) Sharp, Pamela Higgins all of Barnesville; brother, James "Pat" Higgins of Hendrysburg; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; aunt, Edna "Sis" Milligan; special friend, Diana "Cricket" Gross; and his adopted mom, Sue Greene. A graveside service for John will be conducted, Saturday 10 a.m., Hope Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio. Pastor Rodney West officiating.
